Well, this week I have a short break before classes start again Monday. The past couple of months have really been busy and I’m not so sure the next couple will be any different. You would think I’d get used to it, oh well. Today I did get out to shoot off a few frames, it was foggy on the lake but I did get a couple of interesting shots. For the past year I’ve been using Adobe Lightroom and for the most part I like it. Post production is very quick and most often I don’t even use Photoshop, well at least for editing. I’m still using Photoshop for resizing and printing. I know Lightroom can do that but I’m not quite ready to try it. I have a surprise photo from my childhood coming soon, stay tuned.

Well it’s be some time since my last post and the reason being my latest art exhibit, the Digital Media Technology Faculty Show at Santa Fe College, http://dept.sfcollege.edu/vpa/GALLERY/current.html . The gallery show includes a multi screen video presentation as well as an array of computers with interactive menus presenting the individual videos. My personal inspirational video is posted on YouTube (as seen above). If you missed the opening you can still visit the gallery and see the show until November 5, 2009. Now I’m preparing for the next show at Thornebrook, October 3 and 4, 2009, http://www.thornebrookart.org/ . At the Thornebrook show I will have more of my new “transparencies on foil” infrared photos as well as gallery wrapped canvas pieces. Everything will be for sale as I hope to recoop some of my costs of putting together all of this artwork. I’m also getting very close to breaking ground on a new art studio for my wife and I. It will be in our backyard, as such we’ll have a very short commute with quick access to all of our creative resources. Hopefully I can keep the blog updated on the progress during construction. Enjoy and I hope to see you at the Thornebrook show if not before. Wes

With a week of rain we finally get a little sunshine. I ventured out to one of my favorite spots near Gainesville, Pithlachocco Lake where the ancient Indians hung out. I capture a few Infrared photos and some really nice color shots. This old lake is really a fishing lake not a swimming lake so if you decide to check it out, bring your mosquito repellent and look for buckets of Catfish next to the local fishermen. In this particular photo you can barely see the break in the clouds as the next bout of rain rolls in. I did see a brave soul Kayaking out that channel. You can see this photo on the map if you look at my Pithlachocco Flickr set.

Well it’s a rainy day here in Gainesville and has been for many days now. I’ve been in and out but haven’t had much time to capture images. I did catch a couple but nothing to really speak of. However, I have completed a full page list of to-do items and I wrote some thoughts that came to me the other morning. I’ve decided to share them with the world.

As an artist and photographer of many years I have learned a few things about myself. As I walk this wonderful path I’m looking about for the stream of life that flows within us all. I know that it’s a common thread that can be seen by those who seek it. When opening that awareness (connecting with the intuitive right brain), a glimpse of the waves of light as they shimmer on the true reality can be seen. We really are one, connected by that continuous stream of light. Human nature however, comes with a filter (the left brain) to block this light wave so that we can do things on the earthly plane, be productive and get on with a human experience. It is possible, I believe, to see the light and function in a productive manner (Hemispheric Synchronization). My passion on this journey is to gather freeze frames of those light waves that are so very familiar to our inner child, the inner child who knows the truth, that remembers the moment we arrived on the planet merging into the human form. If I can share that view, that image, then I have arrived.

The infrared images that I capture are light waves that are not visible by our human eye and therefore offer glimpses into the unknown. In these image you see more than you might otherwise, there is a different quality and I believe this triggers our senses in ways that have not been seen in many, many years. Enjoy.

He’s an artist, a watercolor artist, and at this point in time starving, well pretty close. Show fees these days are $200-$500 and most times an artist can only sell $200-$300 if they are lucky, so they are slowly sliding further into debt. I’m trying to help him make some sales on the web and have coached him into starting a blog to keep the world informed. If you get a moment pass his link around the world and see if we can stimulate an artist. Thanks.

http://SamuelRuder.com

BTW, most of the sawmill has been moved to Ft.White and I think I can get the last three pieces in one more trip, with help from my friend Jim. I’ll keep you posted.
